Critiquing videos

When playing a student submission, the video is shown on the left and the feedback panel is shown on the right.  At the top of the feedback panel, you will see the tabs for Comments and Rubrics (if enabled).  Along the bottom of the feedback panel, you will see the different feedback types. These include Markers (if enabled), text comments, video comments, audio comments, uploads, YouTube videos, and End Notes. See Feedback types for more information on each.

As soon as you start adding any type of feedback (other than markers), the video will pause automatically (except for Live review assignments).   It will start playing again when you hit Enter or finish your feedback.

To give feedback:

  1. Enter the playback screen by clicking the video's thumbnail on the dashboard.
  2. Choose the type of feedback you want to give by selecting it from the Feedback Toolbar at the bottom of the feedback panel.  (Text comments are selected by default.)
  3. Follow the steps for your preferred feedback type:
    1. A  Text Comment - Begin typing in the comment box in the lower right (the video will pause automatically).  The comment will be saved to the appropriate spot on the timeline when you hit "Enter."

    2. B  Video Comment - Choose how you want to add your video comment by clicking "Video," "Upload," or "YouTube." Then submit your selected video type.

    3. C   Audio Comment - Record your comments and click "Stop" when you are done.

    4. D  Markers - Click the appropriate colored box at the bottom of the feedback panel for the marker you want to use.

    5. E  End Note - End Notes are longer, final comments that allow you to summarize your observations. You can enter up to 2,000 characters. They will appear at the end of the comment timeline.

  4. After you finish leaving feedback, click "Back" in the upper right-hand corner to exit the video.  Your feedback is automatically saved.
