Activity Settings

The Activity Settings page is where you set permissions and define how your activity will appear to your students.  On the dashboard, the darkened icons on the right side of the activity header show which settings are currently enabled.  To edit any of these settings, select "Edit Activity."

Following are descriptions of each activity setting in GoReact:

Activity Title

The title of your activity.

Activity Type

This defines the type of Activity for your assignment.  It can be Self-Submit, Live Event, Stimulus, or Comment Only.  For details, see Activity Types.

Availability and Due Dates

  • Availability Date: The date the Activity will become visible to student presenters. If no date is selected, the Activity is available immediately.
  • Due Date: The date the Activity is due. GoReact will still allow submissions after the due date, but the video's submission date will be shown in red to indicate that it was late.

Points Possible

Adding Points Possible allows you to grade each submission on a simple point value.  If you plan on adding a rubric for more detailed evaluations, leave this field blank.  The rubric score will determine the points possible for the Activity.

Test Option

The Test setting restricts students to only one submission for the activity.  This is also where you can set a time limit. For more information, see Test Activities.

Recording Instructions

  • Text Instructions: Here you can give brief instructions or reminders to your students.  These instructions will be shown before the Presenter records or uploads a video.
  • Video Instructions: Video instructions can be recorded or uploaded if you would like to submit a video guide instead of written instructions.

Activity Resources

Any additional attachments or resources you wish to provide your students can be uploaded here. This is useful for posting examples, background material, or anything else that would be helpful for the participant in creating their submission. These resources will be available to presenters before, during, and after recording. Presenters can also attach their own files to their individual video submissions.

Stimulus/Prompt

If the Activity is a Stimulus activity, you can add or edit the stimulus/prompt media here. Click the "Add Media" button to upload, record, or add a file from your Library. If you would like students to submit and respond to their own source media, check the box next to "Student Selected Stimulus/Prompt."  For more information, see Stimulus Activities.

slide_deck.PNG Allow Presenter Slide Deck

Slide Sync™ allows students to add PDF slides to their video in GoReact.  These slides will be shown side-by-side with the video and can be timed to automatically advance during playback. For more information, see Slide Sync™

Feedback Instructions

  • Text Instructions: Here you can give brief instructions or reminders to those who are critiquing a video.  These instructions will be shown whenever a video is played back.
  • Video Instructions: Video instructions can be recorded or uploaded here if you would like to submit a video guide instead of written feedback instructions.

Comments & Markers

peer.PNG Peer Critique: Allows Presenters to view and critique all videos submitted to the activity.  When critiquing a peer, they can only see their own comments unless "All comments are public" is also enabled. (Grades are always private and are only visible to the presenter(s) attached to a video.)

public.PNG All comments are public: Allows everyone in the course to see all timeline feedback on all videos.  This includes comments, markers, and ratings.  If unchecked, only instructors and the video's presenter(s) can see these items.  (Instructor evaluations are always private and are only visible to the presenter(s) attached to a video.)

ratings.PNG Use Ratings: Enables a rating system from 1-7 which includes a graph that plots the ratings.

markers.PNG Markers: Markers are a set of labels that you create for preset responses on a video. They are time-coded to the video within the comment stream. See Creating a Marker Set for more.

public.PNG Group Discussion: Allows all participants to see each others' comments. (Note: This option is only available after selecting the Comment Only activity type.)

individual.PNG Individual Graded Response: Allows the instructor to grade each participant individually, whether it's a group discussion or individual responses. (Note: This option is only available after selecting the Comment Only activity type.)

rubrics.PNG Rubrics

Here you can add a structured evaluation to the Activity. You can add either an Instructor Rubric and/or a Peer/Self-Evaluation Rubric.  For more on using rubrics, see Creating a Rubric.
