Master Activity Sync is a new feature designed to streamline the management of activity templates in GoReact. The primary function of Master Activity Sync is to ensure that any copies of a library template remain synchronized with the original (referred to as the “master”) within the organization’s library. This allows organizations to maintain consistent, standardized activities across departments, programs, or courses, significantly simplifying scaling within GoReact.

Master Activity Sync is supported both within the standard GoReact application and through LTI 1.1 and LTI 1.3 integrations.

Master Activity Sync

Please Note

Once Master Activity Sync is enabled, any copy of this template made within the organization will remain synced with the original master template in the library.

When updates (e.g., changes to instructions, rubrics, video settings) are made to the master, these changes will automatically propagate to all synced copies.

This feature is only available to organization admins. Instructors cannot access the sync feature unless given administrative permissions.

Organization admins have the option to disable syncing at any time if they need to break the connection between the master template and its copies. This can be done in the Activity Configuration settings. Disabling sync will prevent future updates from propagating, but existing changes will remain intact.

  1. When creating an activity, you'll now see the option to create an Activity Template.
You can also create Master Activities directly through your Library via your organization's collection. From there, you can also edit existing Activities to become "Master Activities" by just toggling the "Master Activity" icon.

  2. From there, you can create an Activity in your library, and check our new "Master Activity" button:

This button will allow for Activity Templates, when copied, to stay in-sync with the master. Meaning, the only way for a copied Activity Template to be edited is via the Library by the Admin who created it.

For more information on Creating Activities, please review our Creating an Activity guide.

Please Note

Only activities created or copied after Master Activity Sync is enabled will be synced. Existing activities will need to be re-copied for syncing to take effect.

Certain elements of the activity (such as individual student submissions or instructor feedback) are not part of the sync process—only configuration changes will propagate.

Master Activity Sync FAQs

Can instructors modify synced activities?

Instructors can manage the activity as usual but cannot change any synced components unless the sync is disabled by an admin.

Will synced updates affect existing student submissions?

No, syncing changes will not affect submissions or grades already completed. The changes will only apply to the configuration of the activity.

Can we selectively sync certain components of an activity?

Currently, Master Activity Sync applies to all components of the activity (instructions, rubrics, video settings, etc.). Selective syncing of components is not available.
