If you need to convert a video to a compatible format, or you need to reduce your video's file size so you can upload to GoReact, follow our instructions below for either Windows or Mac. (Please note that we are referencing these third-party programs as tools that should work for you, but we cannot provide any support for these products directly.)

Note

You can save yourself the hassle of compressing your files by lowering the resolution on your recording device before creating your video. Set your device to standard definition (360p or 480p) if available, or set it to the lowest resolution offered. See the Video recording checklist for details on specific device types.

  9. Close the program and upload your newly converted file to GoReact.

How to convert a video in Windows Movie Maker

Microsoft has discontinued support for MovieMaker, but if you already have it installed on your computer, follow the steps below.

  1. Open Windows Movie Maker.
  2. Click the "Add Videos and Photos" button and select your video file.
  3. Next, click the down-arrow part of the "Save Movie" button at the top right, so that you see a list of save format options.
  4. At the bottom of that list, choose "Create custom setting . . ." and enter the following settings:

  5. Click "Save" and then "Save" again to preserve your settings for future GoReact files, then "Close" after you’ve saved the settings.

Compressing a video on iOS

  • Using the GoReact Recorder mobile app: Our app will compress your video automatically when it uploads.
  • Using your mobile browser: Starting with iOS 8, when you select a video for upload to a website in your mobile browser your device will automatically compress the video for you prior to upload.

Compressing a video on Android

  • Using the GoReact Recorder mobile app: Our app will compress your video automatically when it uploads.
  • If you're not using our mobile app, your best option is to transfer the video file to your computer and use one of the programs referenced above to compress your file. However, there are several third-party apps available for video compression. Your mileage may vary and these apps are not supported by GoReact. One option is called Video Converter Android. You can use the settings shown below for this app or other comparable apps.
